Banana Coconut Murder: A Donut Hole Cozy Mystery - Book 21 Page 7

Lilly hiccupped a few times, then met Heather’s gaze. “It’s just, it’s, ugh, Au-Heather. It’s perfect. I’ve never felt like this before. It’s my own room.”

“What? Oh, Lilly,” Heather said and drew the girl into another hug.

Dave got trapped between them, but he didn’t complain. He loved any kind of attention, especially from Heather and Lilly.

“You had a room at Bill and Colleen’s,” Heather replied.

“Not like this,” Lilly said. “This is my room.” Pride swelled her chest, and she raised her chin. “My room.”

“That’s right,” Heather said. “And you can stay here with us for as long as you like.”

Hopefully, that would be until she was an adult. Heather grinned at Lilly, and the girl returned it, right away.

“So,” Heather said and stood up straight. “What do you want to do on your first evening in your new home? Pizza? Donuts? Both?”

“Both!” Lilly said. “Oh, and can Amy come for a slumber party?”

“You’re kidding, right?” Heather’s chuckles rolled around Lilly’s new bedroom. “I’d be surprised if she wasn’t camped out on the front porch already.”
